Domaine Éléonore Grand Vin 2018
Saint-Émilion Grand Cru ClasséHarvested during an exceptional solar vintage on our plateau parcel. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in raw concrete vats and aged 22 months in 60% new French oak barrels. An architectural wine of aristocratic poise, dense velvety tannins, and graphite minerality.
The Asteria Limestone Matrix
The distinct identity of our Grand Cru wines is forged underground. Millions of years ago, prehistoric marine life formed the Saint-Émilion plateau, gifting our vines with unparalleled moisture equilibrium.
01. Couvert Végétal & Humus
0 – 30 cmPermanent spontaneous wild flora, legumes, and natural biodynamic compost. Protects the soil surface from solar scorch while feeding beneficial mycorrhizal fungal networks.
02. Argiles Bleues Ferrugineuses
30 – 120 cmDense smectite clay rich in iron oxides, identical to the legendary plateau veins. Acts as a natural sponge, releasing micro-doses of water during high summer heat to retain plump, ripe fruit without dehydration.
03. Calcaire à Astéries
120 cm – 8 m+Fossilized marine limestone with vertical fissures. Deep taproots extract mineral salts, imparting our trademark crystalline freshness, salinity, and aristocratic aging longevity.
Minimal Intervention, Maximum Resonance
We do not force nature into an arbitrary mold. In our gravity-fed cellar, grapes descend gently without pumping. Fermentation occurs exclusively with wild, indigenous yeasts nurtured in our estate vineyards.
Aging takes place in lightly toasted French oak barriques from Tronçais forest and egg-shaped sandstone amphorae, allowing microscopic oxygen exchanges that polish tannins without masking terroir purity.
The Cellar Experience
We welcome discerning connoisseurs to private, appointment-only cellar visits. Walk our asteria plateau vineyards, taste barrel samples directly from French oak, and enjoy a curated vertical tasting.
